The Challenge
2022 proved challenging even before it started. The Singapore Motorshow was decimated by the pandemic, COVID-19 restrictions remained tightened, and events were still a no go. Showroom traffic had flatlined and the Certificate of Entitlement prices (needed to own a car in Singapore) was rising by leaps and bounds. Increasingly, customers need to be engaged before they engage.
The Strategy
BMW Autoverse, a web-based augmented reality experience available exclusively on mobile phones, allowed users to engage with BMW models at the touch of their fingertips, anytime, anywhere (as long as they had a mobile connection). Customers could view the cars in augmented reality — swipe for a 360° view of the car, pinch to zoom, learn more about the model and take photos to share it with their friends. They could also book a doorstep test drive and experience the real deal right at their door. The app also allowed for showroom activations.
